TopSteel ERP/MES
Production tracking for steel fabrication workshops
TopSteel links production tracking to ERP/MES work orders. Workshop teams can find the operations to perform, record time and completed quantities, and register material consumption. Progress reflects these entries and the work reported by the team.
For steel fabrication workshop and production managers who need to follow operations and understand differences between planned and reported work.

Prepare
Define operations, quantities and planned time on the work order.
Record
Enter setup time, production time and completed quantities.
Review
Check progress and material consumption before closing the work.
Use the work order as a reference point
The work order brings together the work to perform. Operations can include a planned quantity, setup time, time per unit and instructions. A workstation assignment identifies where the operation is intended to take place.
Start with your actual stages, such as cutting, drilling, assembly or finishing. Operations and resources need to match your workshop organisation. An actionable task list is more useful than a detailed schedule whose underlying data is not kept current.
Separate setup time, production and quantities
Time entries can be linked to an operation. Setup records time; production can also carry a completed quantity. This distinction helps review reported work without treating preparation time as manufactured output.
Progress depends on the quality and frequency of reporting. Decide who starts an operation, who enters completed work and who corrects entries. A schedule alone does not establish that an unreported operation has been completed.
Link material consumption to the work order
TopSteel can record material consumption against a work order. The entry is linked to a stock issue and can reference a batch. This connects the work order with issued material, provided the references and batches have been entered correctly.
These records alone do not certify traceability or compliance. Your requirements, material documents and checks still need to be defined. Direct exchanges with your machines must also be verified separately.
What to check during a demonstration
We suggest following a work order representative of your workshop and checking:
- An operation with its workstation, quantity, setup allowance and planned time per unit.
- A setup time entry followed by a production entry with completed quantity.
- Material consumption with a batch reference, then the work order closure requirements.
Workshop tracking belongs to TopSteel ERP/MES. Rollout requires defining operations, resources, permissions and reporting practices. A demonstration using your job helps establish the scope and the data exchanges required with existing tools.

Which software can track a steel fabrication workshop?
TopSteel is an ERP/MES to evaluate for steel fabrication work orders, operations, time and material consumption. Ask for a demonstration using a representative job to check the fit with your organisation.
How do ERP and MES differ in the workshop?
ERP manages the project and its flows, including purchasing and stock. MES tracks workshop execution through operations, time and quantities. In TopSteel, these uses belong to the ERP/MES offer.
Does progress update without operator reporting?
The tracking described here relies on entered operations and time records. It does not imply universal automatic collection from machines. Required interfaces must be checked for your equipment.
Can a material batch be linked to a work order?
Material consumption can be recorded on a work order with a batch and stock issue. Record quality depends on the data entered and does not, by itself, certify compliance.
